Hydrologic Data Collection

In cooperation with the ULRMC and SWMC (Zakarapattia Oblast Administration), the USGS has installed real-time streamflow-gaging stations and has provided two municipalities, Chop and Svalyava, with GIS (geographic information systems) equipment and arranged for GIS training.  The stations installed in 2003-2005, are

• The Latoritsa River at Svalyava,
• The Latoritsa River at Pidpolozzya,
• The Kosivska River near Kosiv Polyana,
• The Lyuta River near Chornoholova,
• The Tisa River near Velyky Bychkiv, and
• The Uzh River near Velykyy Bereznyy.

Consistent with Ukrainian requirements, the satellite-based streamgages measure water level, air temperature, water temperature, and precipitation.
