RED RIVER OF THE NORTH BASIN

                                             05056340 LITTLE COULEE NEAR LEEDS, ND

LOCATION.--Lat 4814'37", long 9922'23", in NE1/4NE1/4SE1/4 sec.15, T.155 N., R.68 W., Benson County, Hydrologic Unit 09020201,
   at bridge 3.5 miles southeast of Leeds.

DRAINAGE AREA.--320 mi2, of which about 150 mi2 is probably noncontributing.


                                                    WATER-DISCHARGE RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD.-- March 1998 to current year.

GAGE.--Nonrecording gage. This station was moved upstream from 05056390 Little Coulee near Brinsmade due to rising water from
   Devils Lake. Records may not be equivalent to prior locations due to change in drainage area. Elevation of gage is 1,480 ft
   above sea level, from topographic map.

REMARKS.--Records fair except for period of estimated discharge, which are poor.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum observed discharge, 269 ft3/s, Apr. 23, 1999, gage height, 66.30 ft; maximum gage height
   observed 66.41 ft, Apr. 13, 16, 18 and 19, 1999; no flow for several days.

EXTREMES FOR CURRENT YEAR.--Maximum recorded discharge, 20 ft3/s, July 16, gage height, 62.76 ft; no flow for many days.
