The Souris River located in north-central North Dakota is an international river prone to flooding in recent years. Continual monitoring of the river by USGS personnel from the North Dakota Water Science Center provide data to water resources managers and emergency management personnel to use in managing the river and keeping the public informed on current river conditions. KXNews highlighted USGS hydrologist Brent Hanson monitoring the river's flow in a recent on-air story.
